Opening the reed diffuser is easy. You just need to unscrew the cap, then pull out the plastic plug underneath the gold cap. You can use needle nose pliers to lift the plug. You can also use a cork screw: turn the corkscrew into the center of the plastic plug, hold the bottle firmly, and pull straight out without letting the cork screw twist.
